Rachel Long
A driven and imaginative work ethos means Rachel looks for opportunity in everything, which is illustrated by her varied career portfolio. After further education, she has always been self-employed and has been a director of a prestige car company, a building contractor and a community-led housing organisation. With a good working and hands-on knowledge of construction and all the associated services, she finds practical solutions to help her creative ideas come to life.
All this learning and experience has bought her to the creation of the hideaway concept. Finding a great team to work with, Rachel is driving this business to reach its potential as the new, sustainable building system.
Rachel says, “The reason I love this new business is the fact we have truly begun to create a way in which nature is less impacted by our needs for development. The whole ethos of the build sits well with my need to have a business that has an ethical foundation.”

Jonathan Wood
After further education, Jon trained as a carpenter and took those practical skills into property development. Jon has always run his own businesses and has been a director of several well-established and successful development companies. One of his companies is a leading force in the commercial glass and cladding industry. With a wide-ranging knowledge of commercial and residential construction, his attention to detail and insistence on quality have remained throughout his career.
An impromptu chat with Rachel at a local community meeting has led to them joining forces on this exciting new venture. Bringing business strength and experience, Jon provides the perfect balance to the directorship team.
Jon says, “This is an innovative construction that will use progressive materials. These quality units will provide a way forward for many, in sensitive site locations.”
At Hideaway Concepts, we have drawn together a team with the vision and experience to help develop your hideaway project.
We can visit your site to carry out a survey, then design and plan the hideaway to suit the location. We can undertake all necessary soil surveys and design a soil retention system appropriate to your ground conditions. We can provide a full landscaping design service and provide graphics of how the hideaway will look on your site. We can complete planning applications on your behalf and our team of architects can prepare full working drawings. Building control (if needed) can be carried out either via the local authority or using our independently-employed building control company.
We can organise a full installation but the Hideaway Undermound Building System is designed to be bought as a kit and easy enough for any local builder to install.
